What is GSM in Printing?

GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter. It measures the density and thickness of paper. The higher the GSM, the heavier and thicker the paper sheet.

1. 60–70 GSM: Light & Standard Reading

Ideal for mass-market paperbacks, pocketbooks, and high-page-count textbooks. Reduces total book weight and shipping costs.

2. 80–100 GSM: Premium Novels & Workbooks

The standard choice for trade paperbacks and academic books. Offers minimal page show-through (opacity) and crisp reading contrast.

3. 130–170 GSM: Coated Art Paper

Heavy coated paper used for children’s books, color catalogs, and photography coffee table books.
